With the rise of COVID cases, I want to stress the importance of taking vitamin D. Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin and most of us in New England are deficient. Because it is summer time we’ll be getting more sun, but even with more sun we still don’t absorb enough vitamin D because most of us aren’t getting enough exposure throughout the year.
Important things to note about Vitamin D:
-
Ideally it is in a liquid form and if it’s not, make sure you are eating or taking it with a fat because it is a fat soluble vitamin.
-
We want to be sure that we are supplementing 3000 to 5000 IU (international units).
-
Most of us use sunscreen because it protects us from the harmful UV rays but it also stops us from absorbing enough vitamin D.
-
Vitamin D is linked to all sorts of immunity benefits, autoimmunity benefits, mood benefits and it is an essential fatty vitamin.
It is also essential that you are eating a whole food diet and your digestion is in good shape because where we utilize our vitamins and nutrients is in our gut. A lot of our patients that have been suffering from having covid several times are people that suffer with gut health and don’t take proactive lifestyle measures to help heal or address it.
Thank you so much for your continued investment in your health and longevity.
To your health and happiness always.
